ABOUT EACCO2CU 2019

Carbon dioxide capture and utilisation are currently research areas of tremendous importance due to environmental concerns about global warming as well as the technological problems associated with CO2 presence in process gas streams. Carbon dioxide is a common impurity in natural gas. Its removal is necessary in order to improve the heating value of natural gas and/or to meet pipeline specifications. In petrochemicals manufacturing, carbon dioxide is a known corrosive agent and had negative effects on the performance of catalysts. Furthermore, carbon dioxide is considered as the major contributor to global warming. Converting COto useful chemicals is the option for sustainable energy and gas processing industries

EACCO2CU 2019 aims to bring researchers, academicians, industry players and policymakers from Europe and Asia working on CO2 related research to share recent trends and developments in the field of CO2 mitigation and utilisation and to discuss the challenges and opportunities toward achieving SDG13 on climate change. The conference will cover a wide range of hot topics ranging from fundamental aspects to applications and industrial case studies.

The conference was inspired by the successful workshop on CO2  Capture and Utilisation that was organised by Univesity of Malaya, Universiti Malaysia Perlis and Queens University of Belfast on 6-8 February 2017 in Kuala Lumpur within the framework of an International Project, involving the three Universities, and funded by the British Council under Newton Institutional Links program.

It is with great pleasure that we would like to welcome you to Sunway University, Malaysia to participate in the 1st Euro-Asia Conference on CO2 Capture and Utilisation (EACCO2CU 2019).

ABOUT THE ORGANISER

The Research Centre for Carbon Dioxide Capture and Utilisation was established to be a focus for research in CO2 mitigation and utilisation under the leadership of Distinguished Professor Mohamed Kheireddine Aroua. Our activities focus revolves around comprehensive research on CO2 capture and its transformation to fuels and chemicals for the global market in addressing a number of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations such as climate action (SDG13), affordable and clean energy (SDG7), and industry innovation and infrastructure (SDG9). We are equipped with customized instrumentation to work with CO2 separation process in low and high pressure.
